Last week the trailer was released for the fourth instalment of the Bourne movies. The Bourne Legacy will be released on August 3rd and the big difference with this one from the other three is that The Bourne Legacy will not be starring Matt Damon but Jeremy Renner. When I first heard this news I wasn't to happy. Matt Damon is Jason Bourne! No one will ever be as good as Matt Damon! But when I came to terms with the news after a while I was quite excited to see how Jeremy Renner will add his touch on the famous american character. The way I see it is that Jeremy Renner is the much more badass version of Matt Damon. If you look at both of their last three big movies. Renner is the big, bad character in all of them. Where as Matt Damon is just the Dad who bought a zoo and an animated penguin. Renner is defiantly the man for the job. I've seen The Town and he did great, I've seen Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and he did great and I've seen the Hurt Locker and he did great. So with the track record he has so far I am sure that he will be capable of pulling off Jason Bourne.
The trailer for the Bourne Legacy is here.
And now we move on. During the week Michael Bay confirmed the release date of the fourth and probably not final Transformers. This news didn't really make me to happy. Don't get me wrong I love the current Transformers trilogy but I am starting to get the feeling that Bay is just milking it out so that he can keep his fame as the Transformers director and he can keep pulling in the dollars. If you ask me the Transformers movies are perfect right now. At the end of Dark of the Moon, Optimus Prime killed Megatron, putting an end to the war being carried out from the very first movie. I think if Bay brings out another movie there will have to be a few more titles that will start a whole new overall plot and as soon as you know it the once perfect Transformers series will have more movies under its belt the Rocky (which a potential seventh movie is being spoken about). Michael Bay, please dont kill Transformers for me. Oh, and the movie will be released June 27 2014.
The final story for today is about the 2007 movie I Am Legend. During the week there was talk for a sequel/prequel to the huge blockbuster. It was reported that Deadline Studios has closed deals with Will Smiths team and some other production companies to make a second movie. Deadline Cinemas says that the film is not going to be called a prequel but it will bring back Will Smith as Robert Neville. I have never gotten around to seeing I Am Legend but I am sure that the sequel will be a big success considering the original movie was made for $150 million but pulled in more then $580 million in the box office, more then tripling the cost to make it. We will just have to wait and see what unfolds in the news about this in the following months.

Chronicle
What if right now, you were given superpowers? What would you do? Would you immediately fight for good, or just mess around as you work out your life? Chronicle tells the story of three high-schoolers, who find themselves in this predicament. As they grow more and more powerful, things start getting out of control. The story is well told through the eyes of Andrew, one of the three who has been picked on all his life, and is abused several times throughout the movie. He uses a handheld camera to tell the story, and throughout the movie, he begins to realise that if he needs to, he can do almost anything. He of the three friends grows much darker and starts using his power for personal revenge or gain.
The story and plot were well told, though I thought the end really let the story down. The characters were really well developed throughout, especially Andrew. Personally, I think he was the only character really likeable during the majority of the movie, probably because he is the one who really wants to do something with his power.
The effects were well done, and my favourite piece of effects was near the beginning of the movie, when the three guys find a strange artefact (or something). This was really good, as the camera began pixelating and only showed flashes of what was happening. They also held up well during the fight scenes, when a LOT of stuff gets destroyed/mangled/generally ripped up.
The acting was really good, with its young talented cast, who are really able to portray the average teenager. The script was quick and smart and often amusing, which kept me interested for most of the movie.
I found that all I was really disappointed with was the length. Running for less than an hour and a half, I felt the movie could have been expanded a lot more. Perhaps some more about the characters prior to the events of the movie, or just more scenes in which they show off their powers.
Overall, I would give Chronicle a 3 and a half out of 5 stars, lifted up with its' original ideas but let down with its' length. I would also recommend it for people around 12 and up, as some of the scenes are extremely violent.

Hugo
When i first heard that Martin Scorsese, who had made Shutter Island was going to direct Hugo, I really couldn't believe it. From the frightening, horrifying psychological thriller, to the kid's (and adults) family movie. Really?
But all doubts aside, Hugo was fantastic. About a boy who lives alone in a Parisian station, the movie really grabbed my attention from the get-go. Hugo has been living alone for several months, after his father's death, and uncle's disappearance. He runs the clocks in the station, hoping that he will not be found and transported to the orphanage by the cruel, but comical train inspector Gustav, played by Sacha Baron Cohen. The last memento he has of his father is an old invention called an automaton, which he attempts to fix with the help of new found friend, Isabelle.
The story was well done, and the scenes in which Hugo ran the clocks were incredible. They were well transitioned, and the 3D (even to an avid 3D hater such as myself) was really well done. The cutting and transitioning was also well done, and the shots of Paris were breathtaking.
The plot and characters all connected really nicely, and the acting was also well done. It was intriguing, and exciting, especially the scenes with the old movies (which really existed!) by reputed filmmaker George Melies.
All in all, with it's gloomy yet uplifting story, and awesome acting, I'm going to give Hugo a 4 out of 5 stars. And seriously, it is a bit of a Trojan Horse - Shutter Island to Hugo? Awesomeness.

The Saturday Showcase!
I'll just start out by saying that I am terribly sorry for the lack of content lately. There will be more to come from here on in.
Today on the Friday Show, which I think i'm going to rename the Saturday Showcase, because well it never was really a show, it's just me talking about interesting movie things. So yes, welcome to the Saturday Showcase! Anyway as I was saying I think I am going to take a new approach to the Saturday Showcase, instead of just rattling off 10 or so different things I am going to find a couple of interesting things and bring more information to you! Lets get this started.
Earlier this week this photo came to my attention.
As you can see, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone are in hospital having a great time. When I saw this the first thing I thought was yeah ok thats just a movie still for there upcoming movie, The Expendables 2 (being released on August 17). However when I continued to look into this I found out that they were in a real hospital, both coincidently having real shoulder surgery. Schwarzenegger commented saying that after all the full on shooting for the past few months he has been physically abused so the surgery was just a little bit of time to tune up everything so that they can both go into, The Tomb, which is yet another movie they will both be starring in, healthily. The Tomb, which will start shooting during Arnold and Sylvester's 65th and 66th birthday this August, is about a master/crazy architect [Stallone] who designs prisons and has to escape one of his designs with the help of one of the inmates [Schwarzenegger]. I'm not going to lie I can't wait to see these next two movies they will be in. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the story lines were weak and the acting wasn't top notch but As long as there are good fight scenes, I am excited! and with that we move on.
And we move on to a slightly strange story that came out of the movie, Safe House. If you havent seen or heard about it yet, Safe House is a movie Featuring Denzel Washington, Ryan Reynolds and Robert Patrick. The movie is about a young CIA agent that has to look after a fugitive in a safe house, The safe house gets attacked and The agent is then on the run with this fugitive and it leads them into all sorts of problems they will inevitably overcome. I'm interested to see what this movie will be like. Click here to see the trailer. Now here is the weird bit. During the shooting of safe house Denzel Washingtons character had to be tortured and Denzel was really up for the idea on being waterboarded. He says he just wanted to know what it felt like. Now I think this is something quite dumb. Its one thing to be an actor, where you act things out but to be Waterboarded for a movie just takes it a bit to far in my opinion. Denzel said that it felt really weird, he couldn't breathe in because there was water in his mouth and this went on for 20 or 30 seconds so if you were being waterboarded of course you would tell the people that captured you anything.
So that is all there is for the Saturday Showcase this week! I hope you enjoyed the new style, let me know what you think in the comments after this post. Also really quickly, This week we launched two new sites that share the "Trojan" name. there aren't many posts up yet but it would be great if you can check them out check back in for fresh content.
