Today on the Friday Show, which I think i'm going to rename the Saturday Showcase, because well it never was really a show, it's just me talking about interesting movie things. So yes, welcome to the Saturday Showcase! Anyway as I was saying I think I am going to take a new approach to the Saturday Showcase, instead of just rattling off 10 or so different things I am going to find a couple of interesting things and bring more information to you! Lets get this started.
Earlier this week this photo came to my attention.
As you can see, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone are in hospital having a great time. When I saw this the first thing I thought was yeah ok thats just a movie still for there upcoming movie, The Expendables 2 (being released on August 17). However when I continued to look into this I found out that they were in a real hospital, both coincidently having real shoulder surgery. Schwarzenegger commented saying that after all the full on shooting for the past few months he has been physically abused so the surgery was just a little bit of time to tune up everything so that they can both go into, The Tomb, which is yet another movie they will both be starring in, healthily. The Tomb, which will start shooting during Arnold and Sylvester's 65th and 66th birthday this August, is about a master/crazy architect [Stallone] who designs prisons and has to escape one of his designs with the help of one of the inmates [Schwarzenegger]. I'm not going to lie I can't wait to see these next two movies they will be in. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the story lines were weak and the acting wasn't top notch but As long as there are good fight scenes, I am excited! and with that we move on.
And we move on to a slightly strange story that came out of the movie, Safe House. If you havent seen or heard about it yet, Safe House is a movie Featuring Denzel Washington, Ryan Reynolds and Robert Patrick. The movie is about a young CIA agent that has to look after a fugitive in a safe house, The safe house gets attacked and The agent is then on the run with this fugitive and it leads them into all sorts of problems they will inevitably overcome. I'm interested to see what this movie will be like. Click here to see the trailer. Now here is the weird bit. During the shooting of safe house Denzel Washingtons character had to be tortured and Denzel was really up for the idea on being waterboarded. He says he just wanted to know what it felt like. Now I think this is something quite dumb. Its one thing to be an actor, where you act things out but to be Waterboarded for a movie just takes it a bit to far in my opinion. Denzel said that it felt really weird, he couldn't breathe in because there was water in his mouth and this went on for 20 or 30 seconds so if you were being waterboarded of course you would tell the people that captured you anything.
